WE’RE OPEN!!!!
Finally! Yesterday, September 24th at 4PM, Open Produce officially opened it’s doors to customers for the first time. It’s been a long time coming, and even when we did finally open it wasn’t easy, but we did it.
Wednesday started with a bang. Literally. As in exploding electrical outlets. We were installing a new air conditioner in the front room, and discovered that we didn’t have enough current to run it. So, emergency call to an electrician, who while testing our circuits, accidentally blew out some plugs. It was loud and startling, but no harm done.
We’ve had a steady stream of visitors these two days, today a little slower than yesterday’s frantic rush. Most people seem interested in what we have, and pleasantly surprised at our prices (red peppers, 75 cents!). We’ve also had a lot of great suggestions. Keep ’em coming!
I just want to take a minute to thank everyone that’s helped and encouraged us over the past 2 months, community members and businesses alike; Mason at Cornell Dollar let us open a tab for our cleaning and construction supplies and took our mail for us sometimes, Larry D’amico at Hyde Park Produce (our role model for what a produce store should be) for all his advice, the staff at Ace for answering our incessant and panicked questions and countless others. We couldn’t have done it without you, and we won’t be able to keep doing it without you either. Keep giving us your suggestions, comments, criticism, and love. We need it all.
